So, I’ve been delinquent and quite absent since May. How bad am I??! Just goes to show how busy life has been around here this summer…
I now have a part-time job with the Kansas Turnpike.
We put in a small garden and I canned many jars of Red Pickles from our surplus cucumber crop. I also picked strawberries in June from a local farm and made strawberry jam.
I saved a small kitten from certain death in June, on one of my trips home from Ohio. CiCi is now a bonafide member of our household and she is destined to be our #1 entertainer. She is quite hilarious to watch, esp when she is interacting with our australian shepherds. She plays differently with each one. With Tori, she will hide under the bed and bat at her… however, she will chase Trixie around the bedroom, trying to catch her tail. CiCi’s trademark maneuver is to take a flying leap off our bed, both front paws outstretched, as she flies toward one of the dogs! I really need to get a Flip video recorder so I can share some of the laughter with everyone.
We also acquired 5 guinea keets 7 weeks ago, and have been renovating our chicken coop for them.
Aside from all that, I’m in the middle of changing up the Lazy G website too. I’ve removed some of the dog treats but I’ve kept the most popular one, Trixie’s Cheesers. It’s definitely popular around here. I’ll be doing testing on some new varieties and if they turn out the way I hope, then I’ll be posting them for sale.
Winter is coming, and that means more indoor time. More time to bake dog treats and human cookies!
I’ll try to stay in touch, and let you know as soon as some of my updates are realized.
In the meantime, I hope everyone is enjoying the fabulous autumn we are having!!

Ok, this is a silly question, but…do all the guineas have long eyelashes, or just that pretty black one on the right?
OMG, you’re cracking me up Linda… I didn’t even notice you could see eyelashes in this photo!! Now I’ll have to try to look at them closer next time I’m out there, although it will be hard to tell, because they’re heads are constantly moving and swiveling and craning! I wouldn’t have known they have eyelashes if it weren’t for the time-stop of this photo. LOL
(But now I’m wondering, are they really eyelashes in that photo, or does it just appear to be eyelashes? Hmmm, going to have to research this.)
So good to hear from you!!! Been thinkin bout ya.. Love the guineas… we had them when i was a kid on the farm!
Hi Rose… it’s so funny, I was just thinking about you this morning, wondering how you are doing.
Hope all is well in north Kansas. It was so cool to see all the LWD pics on FB last month. Looks like all had a great time!
You are one busy gal!! EmmaLou needs some treats for Christmas — hmmm I’d best do some special ordering purty soon, huh?
Hi Linda… busy would be the understatement of the year! I’m now working two jobs — the turnpike AND I just got a full-time job at the hospital where I temp’d last year. BUT I’ll still be making some cheesers for the holidays, so you just let me know when you need some for sweet EmmaLou!!!!!
